Investments of TNSC Bank in the Government and other approved securities amounted to Rs.2720.69 crores for the purpose of maintenance of SLR as on 31.3.2015.  TNSC Bank has also made investments in shares of non-co-operative institutions to the extent of Rs.47,000   and in bonds of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to the extent of Rs.110.35 crores which are not reckoned for the purpose of computation of Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR). The total investment of the Bank stood at Rs.2831.04 crores  as on 31.3.2015 as against the total investment of Rs.2942.13 crore as on 31.3.2014.

The investments in the Government and other approved securities are made by the Bank for the following purposes :

  • For maintaining liquid assets as per Section 24 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
  • For earmarking of securities towards the unutilised balance in the ACS Fund of the Bank.
  • To offer as security for borrowings from RBI for Normal Banking Operations (NBO).
  • To offer as security for borrowings from NABARD for Seasonal Agricultural Operations and NFS loans under Section 25 of NABARD Act, in lieu of Government Guarantee.
